Dr. Gideon Box might be a pig of a man, but he’s also the surgeon of last resort for hopeless case infants other doctors have given up on. Over the past six years 72 children have been wheeled into his operating room with no chance of surviving, and yet Box saved them all.
But now his winning streak is in danger because the world’s deadliest assassin, Donovan Creed, has hatched a plan to stop a deadly terrorist from blowing up Wall Street. Can you see where this is going? In order for Creed’s plan to succeed, Dr. Box has to make certain his next patient—the terrorist’s son—dies in the operating room.
Box has only one redeeming quality he won’t allow any child to die while under his care, even if it means tens of thousands of innocent Americans will lose their lives. Knowing that the penalty for defying Creed is certain death, Box turns to the one person on Earth he believes can neutralize the assassin while he works to save the child. Amazingly, she agrees to help him. But will it be enough?
PRELIMINARY COMMENTS FOR "BOXED IN!"
"I dare you to read this book and tell me that John Locke has an ounce of sanity—and I mean that as a compliment!"
"I’ve asked it before, I’ll ask it again How does John come up with this stuff? Highly entertaining!"
"Boxed In is Gideon Box at his snarky best. I’d say more if I could figure out where to start. Get it, enjoy it, and pray for Mr. Locke."

When I got the email that another Dr. Box story was available, I couldn't buy it fast enough. Since I was in the middle of a different book, I felt like I had to finish that one first. Dr. Box stayed on my iPad and waited patiently, while I tried to get to it as fast as I could.I only started Boxed In late last night and read until I fell asleep. I finished up today in one sitting. I always try to slowly read each of John Locke's books but instead I very quickly devour them. So many twists and turns in this one--it makes me wonder how these ideas come into your head.
I love Donovan Creed, Gideon Box, and of course Rose. I'm still waiting for Miranda to pop up again.

Boxed In! a Dr Gideon Box/Donovan Creed Novel edition by John Locke Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Love his books! I've read every book, every series, & they just keep getting better. If you haven't read John Locke yet~ you're missing out on not only some great stories, but also some doubled over, stomach hurting, kind of laughter! He's a trip. There's no end to the depraved depths of his wild imagination. = and I do mean that in the best possible way! )
I enjoy the Creed books and also the Box and Dani Ripper books. I enjoy the humor and mystery behind this book, the ending is too funny. I liked the twist on the baby and the punishment the doctor receives from Creed. I liked the characters , nurse Jennifer was very good and the things the doctor did were quite humorous. I read this book in two days didn't want to put it down. John Locke is one of my favorite authors and I can't wait for the next book.
Well another John Locke book savored. The twists and turns and general unpleasantness is pure Locke and pure twisted mind. The reader is led through the horrors of a sick genius confronting another sick genius until the final twist of the brain.
If this is your first Locke novel you may not make it through. But to all of us in love with gentle horror- this is one of the best!
Best Christmas present ever! I wish he did more Creed, Emmitt, and Box novels. I've read them all so many times, just waiting for new ones, that I think I can recite them from memory! Light, funny and engaging, I have yet to read one I don't like!
BTW, when is the movie going to be made!?!?!?
What a combo - Donovan Creed and Box! Yes yes I know plausibility and these two characters (I worked in Intelligence and international security in the private sector for years and although there's a lot of truth quite a bit doesn't really work like that lol) sometimes don't follow the same street but Damn these books are a blast to read!! Box is a sociopathic genius and Creed is, well, Creed. He's got money and resources and a 'particular set of skills' (to quote a popular action film hero) to go along with equally deadly friends that's intoxicating to read. That, combined with Box's laugh out loud dialogue and activities, ensures an entertaining book. I'm really giving it 4.5 with a half star taken off for a bit of ridiculous aspect to some plot issues. Overall enjoyable
I was very torn about my feelings for this book. The author did the unforgivable with this work; he made me think! I don't know if it was intentional or not, but this book could almost be IMPORTANT! Locke touches on the very essence of Christian (and other primitive religions) thought; the sacrifice of an innocent to save the many. Additionally, he explored the pain suffered by those handicapped by exceptional mental abilities; constantly protecting themselves from those with lesser abilities who want to bring them down to their level. There is a common misconception that there is a fine line between genius and insanity. The truth is that genius is a subset of insanity. It's not easy being special!. Locke seems to understand that in his writings and for these reasons I highly recommend this book.
A series you have to be sick to love. I guess that's telling as I do love the series.
The latest in a series from an author that also has a number of other series that I have been devouring for the last couple of years. What make these series unique is that they are all tied together by the characters that star in each series. So, if you're a fan of one and have not branched out into the others then it is time to go to his author page and start the reading adventure that will take you into the minds of a lethal assassin, a gun fighter and reluctant sheriff, and a private detective made famous by escaping from a deranged kidnapper.
Dr. Box maybe brilliant when it comes to saving the life of children written off as lost causes but his activities outside the operating room have left any that know him with a strong desire to see him thrown into the bowels of hell as he surly is the very epitome of demon walking the earth. Good thing that he's the only one in the world that can save a life that others deem impossible. Just pray that if you've ever slighted him that you never show up in his hospital under his care. It will be an encounter you never live to regret.
In this tale Dr. Box is visited by the only man that causes true fear in a doctor who's moral compass was broken at birth. Donovan Creed. An assassin that you do not want to owe a favor to.
Donovan comes to collect. He has a plan to kill a terrorist and in the process save thousands of lives. The only problem, what he wants is the one thing Dr. Box cannot do.
Painted into a box (pun intended) he has no choice but to call on the one person that even Donovan is afraid of. Rose.
Together they come up with a full proof plan. Too bad that Donovan is already two steps ahead and the consequences for Dr. Box are steep and his life may never be the same.
As a fan I say you have to add this to your library.
